The two-bounce rule: the ball must bounce once on each side after the serve before either team can volley it.
You can't volley while standing in the non-volley zone ("the kitchen") or touching its line.
If your momentum carries you into the kitchen after a volley, it's still a fault - even if you were outside it when you hit the ball.
Serves must be hit underhand, contacting the ball below your navel, with the paddle head no higher than your wrist.
In traditional scoring, only the serving side can score a point - the receiving side can only win back the serve.
Since 2021, a serve that clips the net but still lands in the correct box is in play - no more "let" do-overs.
